Rapids Goal Scorers Nominated For GOW Honors

The men who scored the fastest goal and the most goals in the Colorado Rapids' 4-0 shutout of Chivas USA in Major League Soccer play Saturday are nominated for MLS/Sierra Mist Goal of the Week honors for Week 21 of the 2009 season.

Pablo Mastroeni, the team's captain, scored 26 seconds into the game for his first goal scored since April 23, 2005 and it was the second fastest goal scored in team history and the sixth fastest in league history.

Conor Casey had goals in the fourth, 23rd and 45th minutes in the victory for the Rapids.

Other up for this week's award, voted on by fans at www.mlsnet.com by 2 p.m. Eastern time Wednesday, are:

Jeff Cunningham, FC Dallas
Scored lone unassisted goal in ninth minute of 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo

Landon Donovan, Los Angeles Galaxy
Scored team's first goal unassisted in the ninth minute of 2-1 win over the New England Revolution

Alejandro Moreno, Columbus Crew
Had team's opening goal off assists from Robbie Rogers and Emmanuel Ekpo in 69th minute of 3-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes at Candlestick Park in San Francisco

Peter Lowry, Chicago Fire
Scored game-tying goal off Cuauhtemoc Blanco in 48th minute of eventual 3-2 loss to the Houston Dynamo
