RailHawks Stall Whitecaps Potential Win

Andry Budnyy scored off a John Cunliffe assist in the 87th minute as the host Carolina RailHawks attempted to climb their way back to the top of the United Soccer Leagues First Division standings Tuesday with a 1-1 draw against the defending league champion Vancouver Whitecaps at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.

The RailHawks are 13-5-5 with 44 points and are in a tie for second place with the Charleston Battery (12-4-5), four points behind the league-leading Portland Timbers (13-1-9, 48), and next head to Marina Auto Stadium in Rochester, NY Saturday to take on the Rochester Rhinos.

Mason Trafford assisted Marcus Haber on Vancouver's sixth minute goal and fell to 7-9-6 with 27 points, good for sixth place in the league standings. They will face the Battery Thursday night at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC.
