The Carolina RailHawks became the second United Soccer Leagues First Division franchise to clinch a playoff berth Wednesday after handing the Miami FC Blues their worst loss of the season in a 9-0 rout at Cary, NC's WakeMed Soccer Park.
Joseph Kabwe led the RailHawks with a hat trick and an assist, Sallieu Bundu added two goals and an assist, Gregory Richardson was credited with a goal and a pair of assists and John Cunliffe, Daniel Paladini and Andriy Budnyy added goals to extend Carolina's current unbeaten streak to eight games (4-0-4) and gave themselves sole possession of second place in the division standings at 14-5-6 with 48 points, two behind the Portland Timbers (14-1-9) for first place.
The RailHawks have a two-game series this Sunday and next Wednesday against the Montreal Impact at Saputo Stadium.
Miami, meanwhile, is 7-13-4 with 25 points and in eighth place. They will face the Austin Aztex on the road at Nelson Field this Saturday.
