Pride Snaps 10-Game Losing Streak, Beats Freedom

Tiffeny Milbrett and Adriane scored second-half goals as FC Gold Pride snapped a 10-game winless streak to upset the Washington Freedom, 3-2, Saturday in Women's Professional Soccer play at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.

Kim Yokers scored the opening goal for the Pride, but Washington's Homare Sawa gave them the lead wth goals in the 17th and 37th minutes to take a 2-1 halftime lead.

Despite the win, the Pride are 4-9-5 with 17 points and share the worst record in the seven-team league with the Chicago Red Stars. They will close out their season Wednesday on the road at Sky Blue FC and at home next Saturday against the St. Louis Athletica, who clinched second place in the league standings earlier Saturday and will now host the league's Super Semifinal playoff game August 19 at Anheuser-Busch Park in Fenton, MO.

Washington, 7-7-5 with 26 points and in third place, have one final game on their schedule -- hosting Sky Blue next Saturday.
