PDL's Goal Scoring Champion Now A Whitecap

Forward Aaron Wheeler, who was the Most Valuable Player in the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League and their Goal Scoring Champion for the Reading Rage, signed a deal with the USL First Division's Vancouver Whitecaps Friday ahead of the league's roster freeze deadline.

Wheeler finished the season with 39 points on 18 goals and three assists and had either a goal or an assist in 13 of their 17 combined games, both regular season and playoffs. He scored a goal in each of the Rage's last five combined games and ended the year with an eight-match point scoring streak.

In 2007, Wheeler was on another PDL Championship team -- the Hampton Roads Piranhas -- and had four goals in 307 minutes over 13 games.
