Nyarko, Fire Defeat Real Salt Lake

Patrick Nyarko had the game's only goal in the 76th minute off a Tim Ward pass as the Chicago Fire shut out Real Salt Lake, 1-0, Saturday in Major League Soccer play from Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.

The Fire stand in second place in the Eastern Conference table at 8-3-8 with 32 points, one behind the defending league champion Columbus Crew (8-3-9), who shut out the Colorado Rapids by a similar score on the road.

Chicago faces the Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium next Sunday. The Dynamo have the best record in MLS at 10-5-5 with 35 points and lead the Western Conference standings.

Real Salt Lake is 6-8-5 with 23 points and in sixth place in the Western race. They will host the Seattle Sounders next Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT.
