NuRock Soccer Holdings, an Atlanta-based real estate developers dealing in residential housing projects, became the new owners of United Soccer Leagues Thursday after purchasing the company from Nike.
NuRock currently owns and operates the Atlanta Blackhawks in the USL's Premier Development League and has the rights to acquire two USL First Division franchises in Atlanta and Birmingham, AL.
Nike and Umbro will maintain a sponsorship agreement with USL which makes Nike an exclusive league sponsor and Umbro the official sponsor and exclusive supplier of match balls for USL1, USL2, PDL and W-League teams.
USL Founder and President Francisco Marcos called the sale "the best of both worlds for USL."
"We have new ownership that will focus solely on developing and growing the leagues, and Umbro and Nike Soccer join us as sponsors to support our franchise owners, teams and athletes," Marcos said.
