Cedric Joqueviel scored in the 23rd minute off a David Testo assist and Peter Byers had the unassisted insurance goal in the final minute of play as the host Montreal Impact shut out the Austin Aztex, 2-0, Sunday in United Soccer Leagues First Division play at Saputo Stadium.
Montreal improved to sixth place in the league standings at 9-10-5 with 32 points. They will play a two-game series with the Carolina RailHawks this Sunday and September 2 at Saputo.
Austin is in last place in the standings at 3-13-8 with 15 points, including a two-point penalty for using an ineligible player earlier this season. They will host the Miami FC Blues Saturday.
