Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo announced Thursday they acquired Mexican forward Luis Angel Landin on loan from Cruz Azul of their Primera Division through the end of 2010, when Houston will have the option to acquire his rights permanently.
Landin will also becomes Houston's first Designated Player, allowing him to be paid in excess of each MLS franchise's salary cap, with only a portion of that salary paid by the team itself.
Landin began his career in the youth system of rival Mexican team Pachuca and he debuted for team in 2004 at the age of 19.
In the 2009 Clausura, Landin had seven goals. He also has appeared five times of Mexico's national team.
Once he officially joins the roster, upon receipt of his work visa, Landin will be ineligible to play for Houston during the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League as he is already on the roster of Cruz Azul.
