Stuart Holden assisted Brian Ching on the only goal of the game in the 57th minute as the host Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer shut out Isidro Metapan of El Salvador, 1-0, in the opening game of Group A play Wednesday in the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League tournament at Robertson Stadium at the University of Houston.
The Dynamo, in Round 2 of the six-game, double-round-robin phase of the competition, will travel to Panama's Deportivo Arabe Unido next Wednesday and Metapan takes on Mexico's Pachuca at home next Tuesday.
