Delicate Duo Knots Kickers With Hammerheads

Matthew Delicate had both goals for the host Richmond Kickers in a 2-2 draw with the Wilmington Hammerheads Saturday at the University of Richmond Stadium in a game to determine who the United Soccer Leagues Second Division regular season champion would be.

Ryan Solle and Jyler Noviello scored for the Hammerheads.

Both teams finished the USL2 season with 39 points each but Wilmington (12-5-3) won more games than Richmond (11-3-6), thereby winning the regular season title and earning a first round playoff bye.

The Kickers open the playoffs Saturday as the number three seed and host the third-seeded Harrisburg City Islanders.

In the other playoff game Saturday, it'll be the fifth-seeded Real Maryland Monarchs facing the fourth-seeded Charlotte Eagles at Charlotte Christian High School.
