Baudet Goal Gives Rapids First Win Over Dynamo In Two Seasons

Julien Baudet scored a 55th minute, game-winning goal off a Mehdi Ballouchy corner kick as the host Colorado Rapids defeated Major League Soccer's Western Conference-leading Houston Dynamo, 1-0, Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO.

It was the Rapids' first win against the Dynamo since August 2007.

Houston holds the best record in the league and in the conference at 11-7-7 with 40 points. They have this week off before facing the current Eastern Conference champion Columbus Crew on the road September 13. They then travel to Mexico to meet Pachuca September 16 in the third round of Group C play.

Colorado, meanwhile, at 9-7-6 with 33 points, is in a three-way tie for fourth in the Western standings with Real Salt Lake (9-9-6) and Chivas USA (10-9-3). All three are a point behind the Seattle Sounders (8-6-10, 34) for third place, five behind the Los Angeles Galaxy (9-4-11, 38) for second and seven behind the Dynamo for first place. The Rapids play a two-game, home-and-home series with Toronto FC the next two weekends, beginning this Saturday at DSGP, then heading to BMO Field in Toronto September 12.
