Kristin Hextall was assisted by Allie D'Amico on a 13th minute goal and Jessica Fuccello had an unassisted point in the 71st minute as the New Jersey Wildcats edged the Western Mass Lady Pioneers, 2-1, in United Soccer Leagues W-League play at Lusitano Stadium in western Massachusetts Sunday.
The Wildcats improve to 2-1-0 with six points and are tied with the Washington Freedom for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, Northeast Division. New Jersey is at the Connecticut Passion Friday.
The Lady Pioneers are 0-4-0 with minus three points, due to a ruling by the league for using an illegally signed player in a May 9 game against the New York Magic. The game, once a win for the Lady Pioneers, was declared a 1-0 forfeit for the Magic and Western Mass had the points deducted from their place in the standings. Western Mass heads to the Long Island Rough Riders this Saturday.
