Charles Gbeke was assisted by Wes Knight on goals in the 16th and 34th minutes and Marco Reda had the unassisted game-winner in the 76th minute as the defending United Soccer Leagues First Division champion Vancouver Whitecaps edged the Miami FC Blues, 3-2, Friday at Swangard Stadium in Vancouver.
Walter Raimrez assisted Zourab Tsiskaridze (10') and Richard Perdomo (78') on goals for Miami.
The Whitecaps, who snapped a three-game losing streak, are 4-4-2 with 14 points and are tied with the Rochester Rhinos, who share the same record, for fifth place in the league standings. Vancouver hits the road for their next two games -- next Sunday at the Montreal Impact and next Tuesday at the Cleveland City Stars.
Miami, at 2-5-1 with seven points and in ninth place, host the Austin Aztex this Sunday and play at the City Stars next Sunday.
