Jose Ramos scored off a pass by Andre Manders in the 24th minute and Zak Boggs had an unassisted goal in the 35th minute as the host Bradenton Academics edged the Baton Rouge Capitals, 2-1, Sunday in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League play at IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, FL.
Jose Pereira scored Baton Rouge's goal on a 58th minute penalty kick.
The Academics are 6-1-2 with 20 points and lead the Southern Conference, Southeast Division. They will travel to the Mississippi Brilla for a showdown of the top two teams in the division Friday, then face the Capitals (1-4-3, six points, seventh place) in Baton Rouge Saturday.
