Fortuna Velaj scored goals in the 64th and 86th minute as the host Connecticut Passion edged the Western Mass Lady Pioneers, 2-1, in United Soccer Leagues W-League play Wednesday from Yale University Stadium Field.
Kelly Kuss gave Western Mass the lead in the 21st minute, but the Lady Pioneers fell to 0-5-0 with minus-three points in the Eastern Conference, Northeast Division. The Lady Pioneers were penalized earlier this season by the USL for using an illegal player.
The Passion are 2-1-1 with seven points and tied for second place with the Boston Renegades (2-1-1) and the Long Island Rough Riders (2-2-1).
Connecticut hosts the New Jersey Wildcats Friday and the Lady Pioneers are at the Rough Riders Saturday.
