USNAST Announces Rosters For Upcoming Events

The US National Arena Soccer Team, under the direction of new player/coach Craig Rhodis of 1790 Cincinnati in the Professional Arena Soccer League announced the rosters Monday for two upcoming events -- the Coupe Canada Soccer Rapide tournament Tuesday and Wednesday in Montreal and the Independence Cup against Mexico's national indoor team Saturday at the NYTEX Center in North Richland Hills, TX.

Rhodis begins a two-year term as head coach after replacing former Stockton Cougars player/coach Bernie Lilavois.

The Montreal tournament features the US facing defending champion Mexico, runner-up Canada and newcomer Peru. The USNAST lost both games in last year's Circuit Mondial tournament, their debut event, 10-9 to Canada and 6-4 to Meico.

The US team is currently 2-4 in two competitons.

Only two players on the US roster have international playing experience -- Detroit Waza Flo Pro forward/midfielder Dominic Scicluna and 1790 defender Salvatore Fiore -- but 11 of the 12 on the roster played in the inaugural PASL season.

Eight of the 12 players on the roster were part of the inaugural PASL-Pro Championship game -- five from 1790, including the coach; three from the Stockton Cougars.

Three players -- Rhodis, along with Aaron Susi and Antonio Sutton, both from Stockton -- have over 10 years experience in indoor soccer.

At the Independence Cup, six players from the Montreal trip will join six members of the host Texas Outlaws on that roster.
