Two Four-Minute Spans Create Tie For City Stars, Islanders

A game of supposedly 90 minutes was decided in two spurts of four minutes each as the Cleveland City Stars and Puerto Rico Islanders played to a 2-2 draw in United Soccer Leagues First Division action Saturday from Juan Ramon Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

The first half belonged to the host Islanders as, in the 36th minute, Cristian Arrieta coverted a penalty kick, followed in the 40th minute by an unassisted goal by Kendll Jagdeosingh.

In the second half, the City Stars took over as Ricardo Pierre-Louis (51') and Pato Aguilera (55') scored to end a four-game losing streak.

The Islanders are 4-3-4 with 16 points and are in fourth place in the USL1 standings. They will host the Austin Aztex Friday in Bayamon.

Cleveland will have a busy week, beginning Tuesday when they host the USL Premier Development League's St. Louis Lions in a first round match at Middlefield Cheese Stadium for the 2009 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. They will return to league play Saturday with an eight-game homestand beginning with the Rochester Rhinos. The City Stars are 1-7-2 with five points and are in tenth place.
