Toronto Beats Red Bulls For Second Time In 11 Days

Nana Attikara assisted on Pablo Vitti's goal in the 28th minute and teamed with Chad Barrett on Dwayne De Rosario's 59th minute goal as Toronto FC defeated the New York Red Bulls, 2-1, Wednesday in Major League Soccer play from Toronto's BMO Field.

It was the second time in 11 days the two teams have met -- Toronto won the last game July 13 at Giants Stadium -- and Toronto has won by the same score for the third straight win in all competitions. It's also the fourth time TFC has beaten New York, the most they've beaten any franchise in their short MLS history.

The Red Bulls' road woes continue as they have now lost 21 straight games and are winless in their last nine overall games.

Toronto has climbed into second place in the Eastern Conference standings with a 6-5-4 record and 22 points, one behind conference-leading DC United (5-3-8, 23). Toronto travels to Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT Saturday to face Real Salt Lake.

The Red Bulls have the worst record in MLS and are in last place in the conference at 2-11-4 with 10 points. They meet the defending league champion Columbus Crew Saturday at Crew Stadium.
