TFC Snaps Losing Streak; Red Bulls Set A Record Losing Streak

Danny Dichio's unassisted goal in the 43rd minute helped Toronto FC snap a three-game losing streak and allowed them to edge the New York Red Bulls, 3-2, Saturday in Major League Soccer action from BMO Field in Toronto.

Unfortunately, for New York, their woes on the road continue as they lost a league-record 20th loss outside of Giants Stadium. Their last road win came May 10, 2008 when they beat the Los Angeles Galaxy, 1-0, at The Home Depot Center.

There was a bright spot, though, for New York. Thanks to an assist from Juan Pablo Angel in the 54th minute, Albert Celades scored the Red Bulls' first road goal in eight games this season.

Toronto is 5-5-4 with 19 points and tied with the Kansas City Wizards for third in the Eastern Conference standings. They take a break from league play Thursday when they visit the Montreal Impact of the United Soccer Leagues First Division in the final game of the Nutrilite Canadian Championship.

If Toronto beats Montreal by more than four goals, the MLS franchise will earn Canada's lone berth in the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League season; otherwise, the spot goes to the defending USL1 champion Vancouver Whitecaps.

New York, 2-10-3 with nine points and in last place in the conference standings, is back at home Saturday against the Seattle Sounders.

Both New York and Toronto play again at BMO Field June 24.
