SuperLiga Play Enters Second Round Of Pool Play

The third annual SuperLiga tournament, featuring the best teams from Major League Soccer and Mexico's Primera Division who did not qualify for major tournaments, enters the second round of pool play Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Group A are the Chicago Fire and Chivas USA (MLS) and Tigers UANL-B and San Luis (Primera).

In Group B are defending SuperLiga champion New England Revolution and the Kansas City Wizards (MLS) and Atlas and Santos Laguna (Primera).

Here's a quick recap of the games held in the first round of pool play Saturday and Sunday:

GROUP A - SATURDAY

Tigers UANL-B 2, Chivas USA 1 @ The Home Depot Center, Carson, CA
Armando Pulido scored for Tigers in the 11th minute on an unassisted goal and helped Jesus Duenas make the game-winning shot in the 82nd minute.

Michael Lahoud scored Chivas' goal in the 56th minute to tie the game at that point.

Chicago Fire 1, San Luis 0 @ Toyota Park, Bridgeview, IL
Brian McBride scored the lone goal off a Cuauhtemoc Blanco pass in the 69th minute

GROUP B - SUNDAY

Kansas City Wizards 0, Atlas 0 @ Robert R. Hermann Stadium at St. Louis Universtity, St. Louis, MO

New England Revolution 4, Santos Laguna 2 @ Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA
Kheli Dube assisted Jay Heaps in the 63rd minute then scored unassisted in the 82nd minute to come back from a 2-2 tie in the 60th minute.

Jeff Larentowicz (38') and Kenny Mansally (60') scored for New England while Viceite Vuoso (51') and Juan Pablo Rodriguez (55') had Santos' points.

In Round 2 Tuesday of A play at Toyota Park, Chicago takes on Chivas USA at 8 p.m. Eastern time and San Luis plays the nightcap against Tigres at 10 p.m. Eastern.

Wednesday at Gillette Stadium in B pool play, the Revolution open at 7 p.m. Eastern against the Kansas City Wizards and Atlas and Santos Laguna face off at 9 p.m. Eastern.

The third round of group play Saturday and Sunday goes like this (all times Eastern):

June 27 - Group A - Round 3
Chicago Fire vs. Tigres UANL @ Toyota Park, Bridgeview, IL - 8 p.m.

June 28 - Group B - Round 3
New England Revolution vs. Atlas @ Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, MA - 4:30 p.m.
Kansas City Wizards vs. Santos Laguna @ CommunityAmerica Ballpark, Kansas City, MO

After pool play ends, the top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals July 15 and wnners play for the title and the $1 million top prize August 5.
