Freddie Ljungberg and Fredy Montero each had a goal and an assist as the host Seattle Sounders snapped a six-game Major League Soccer losing streak with a 2-1 victory over the lowly San Jose Earthquakes Saturday at Seattle's Qwest Field.
Darren Huckerby scored San Jose's goal off assists from Ryan Johnson and Shea Salinas in the 68th minute, but the Earthquakes still boast the worst record in MLS at 2-7-3 with nine points.
Seattle is 4-3-5 with 17 points and tied with the Colorado Rapids for third place in the Western Conference standings.
The Sounders have two games this week -- at home against the new Eastern Conference-leading DC United Thursday and on the road this Saturday at the New York Red Bulls.
San Jose hosts the Los Angeles Galaxy this Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium.
