Revs Take Group B Lead In SuperLiga After Night Of Ties

The defending SuperLiga champion New England Revolution has the lead in Group B pool play at the 2009 tournament after a doubleheader at Gillette Stadium that saw both games end in draws.

In the opener, the Revolution cost themselves a chance to be unbeaten after two rounds of play, but Darrius Barnes mistakenly knocked the ball into his own net in the 85th minute as they played the Kansas City Wizards, a fellow Major League Soccer foe, to a 1-1 tie. Kheli Dube scored New England's true goal off a Kenny Mansally assist in first-half stoppage time.

In the nightcap, the two teams representing Mexico's Primera Divison, Santos Laguna and Atlas, played to a scoreless draw.

New England leads the group at 1-0-1 with four points, Kansas City and Atlas are tied for second at 0-0-2 with two points, and Santos Laguna is last at 0-1-1 with a point.

The final round of Group B play is Saturday with Atlas at the Revolution and the Wizards hosting Santos Laguna.
