The Carolina RailHawks of the United Soccer Leagues First Division announced they have released defender Paul Ritche Thursday after having played only one game for them this season.
In that game, a 1-0 win at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC April 26 against the Minnesota Thunder, he aggravated a knee injury after 41 minutes of play and has since never regained match fitness in it.
Now working as an assistant coach, he is working toward earning his UEFA "A" Coaching License.
He has played in Scotland (Hearts of Midlothian - 1992-99, Glasgow Rangers - 1999, Dundee United - 2004-06), England's Bolton Wanderers (1999), Manchster City (2002-03), Portsmouth (loaned in 2002), Derby County (loaned in 2003) and Wallsall, and AC Omonia in Cyprus (2007-08).
