Prideaux Putting Fire Out On Career At End Of Season

Chicago Fire defender Brandon Prideaux announced Tuesday he will end his 12-year career at the conclusion of the 2009 Major League Soccer season.

He has played 446 minutes over seven of the team's 13 games so far this season.

Prideaux began playing in 1998 with the Seattle Sounders of the United Soccer Leagues First Division, then moved to MLS with the Kansas City Wizards (1999-2001), where he led them to an MLS Cup title in 2000.

He was traded before the 2002 to DC United and led them to an MLS Cup title in 2004 before leaving three seasons later for the Colorado Rapids, where he spent one season.

Last season with the Fire, he started 27 of 30 regular season games and all three playoff games en route to Chicago playing the eventual MLS champion Columbus Crew for the Eastern Conference title.
