The first round of the 2009 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament to determine America's best soccer team began Tuesday with 14 of 16 scheduled matches.

Kenny Bertz, Andrew Gregor, Mauricio Salas and Tiger Fitzpatrick made successful shootout goals for Rochester.

Brian Cvilikas scored two goals and Leonel Saint-Prioux had a goal and assisted om Cvilikas' second goal in the victory over 402.

CHICAGO FIRE (USL PDL) 3, MILWAUKEE BAVARIANS (USASA) 1
Fred Braun (26'), Andre Akpan (28') and Pascal Millan (53') scored goals for the Fire in the victory. James Maurer will miss the second round game next Tuesday due to an ejection.

EL PASO PATRIOTS (USL PDL) 2, Arizona Sahuaros (USASA) 1
Rodrigo Morin scored in the 27th minute and Antonio Barrera assisted Gerardo Moreira on a 59th minute goal for the victory.

Jeff Harwell (18') and Eddie Johnson (64') scored for the Aztex in the victory.

In one of two games not won on the home field's pitch, Brian Farber, Jason McLaughlin and David Hayes scored goals for the established Timbers over the Pumas, making their LHUSOC debut.
