Kelly McConnell scored a goal one minute into the game and later assisted Eric Pardini on a goal in the final two minutes of play as the Long Island Rough Riders shut out the host New York Magic Wednesday in United Soccer Leagues W-League play from Old Boys High School Field.
Leigh Cummings also scored and Long Island earned an own goal in the victory.
The Rough Riders are 4-3-1 with 13 points and are tied with the New Jersey Wildcats (4-2-1) for third place in the Eastern Conference, Northeast Division. They will next host the Connecticut Passion Saturday.
New York is 1-4-2 with five points and are in seventh place. The Magic next face the Washington Freedom Saturday at the Maryland Soccerplex.
