Chicago Red Stars forward Ella Masur will miss the next four to six weeks of the inaugural season of Women's Professional Soccer after suffering a hip injury that resulted in the tearing of four muscles during Sunday's 1-1 draw with FC Gold Pride at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.
The Red Stars said Wednesday an MRI Tuesday confirmed the extent of the injury.
Masur was injured in the 72nd minute of the game when she collided with the Pride's Nicole Barnhart while chasing down the ball inside the 18-yard box.
Masur was played in all nine of her team's games, starting three, and earned her first career WPS point with an assist on a goal by Christiane against the league-leading Los Angeles Sol June 3 at The Home Depot Center.
