Lightning Strikes More Than Once In Win Over Fever

Carolina Smith had a pair of goals, Kylie Kellman had a goal and an assist, and Emily Redberg and Josie Solie each added a score as the host Minnesota Lightning took over the lead in the United Soccer Leagues W-League's Central Conference, Midwest Division with a 5-1 trouncing of the Fort Wayne Fever Thursday at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN.

The Lightning are 2-0-1 with seven points.

Claire Ward scored Fort Wayne's lone goal in their season opener and, at 0-1-0, are tied for last place with the Cleveland Internationals, who haven't started their season yet, and the West Michigan Firewomen (0-4-0).

Minnesota travels to face the Chicago Red Eleven June 18 while the Fever host the Internationals June 13, then head to the Firewomen June 16.
