Brent Whitfield had a hat trick and Michael Farfan scored a goal and assisted on three others as the Los Angeles Legends cooled off the heat of the Fresno Fuego, 7-1, Saturday in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League play at Fresno's Chukchansi Park.
Mark Nelson, Mitch Boland and William Lopez tallied goals for Los Angeles, in third place in the Western Conference, Southwest Division at 5-2-2 with 17 points. The Legends next host the Ogden Outlaws Friday.
Chago Aguilera teamed with Jonathan Torres on a goal for Fresno in the 90th minute but the Legends simply kept Fresno out of the game.
The Fuego are 2-4-2 with eight points and tied for seventh in the divisional race with the Bakersfield Brigade (2-5-2). Fresno heads to the Lancaster Rattlers Friday.
