Knight Takes Surge To Home Victory Over Whitecaps Residency

Jorge Marquez fed a pass to Grant Knight in the 71st minute as the host Cascade Surge shut out the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency, 1-0, Saturday in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League action from Williamette University's McCullouch Stadium.

Cascade is tied for third place in the Western Conference, Northwest Division with the Portland Timbers U-23s, who boast the same 7-3-1 record with 22 points. They are one point behind the Seattle Wolves (7-2-2, 23) for second place and six behind the Kitsap Pumas (9-0-2, 29).

Cascade will be at Vancouver for a rematch next Sunday at Simon Fraser University.

Before then, though, Cascade travels to the Abbotsford Mariners Friday and Vancouver plays three games this week -- Sunday at the Timbers U-23s, Wednesday at Abbotsford and next Saturday hosting the Yakima Reds.
