Guiseppi Rossi, an American-born player whose parents emigrated from Italy, scored goals in the 59th and 91st minutes Monday as the defending FIFA World Cup champions defeated a 10-man US Men's National Team, 3-1, in Group B pool play at the Confederations Cup tournament in Pretoria, South Africa.
Rossi was born in Teaneck, NJ, but has dual citizenship.
Landon Donovan scored the US' lone goal off a penalty kick in the 41st minute, eight minutes after Ricardo Clark was ejected from the game for tripping Italy's Gennaro Gattuso. Clark will now miss Thursday's game with Brazil, who defeated Egypt, 4-3.
Daniele De Rossi also scored for Italy in the 72nd minute.
