The Puerto Rico Islanders took back control of the United Soccer Leagues First Division with a 2-1 victory on the road against the Carolina Railhawks at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Amil Lowery scored Carolina's goal unassisted in the 40th minute, but, for the first time in 34 games, the RailHawks lost, despite scoring the first goal. They had gone 24-0-9 when they scored first.
Jonny Steele, a former RailHawk, countered Lowery's goal two minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 heading to halftime, and Peter Villegas scored the game-winner in the 63rd minute for Puerto Rico, 8-4-4 with 28 points.
The Islanders are unbeaten in the series over the RailHawks at 5-0-1 and Carolina (7-4-3, 24 points, third place) is winless in their last five games.
Puerto Rico will be at the Miami FC Blues July 4. Carolina has an exhibition game Tuesday against Panama at home, then travels to the Charleston Battery July 11.
