Jonathan Steele scored in the 67th minute off a pass from Cristian Arrieta and Domenic Mediate had the game-winning goal from Kyle Veris in the final minute as the Puerto Rico Islanders defeated the Minnesota Thunder, 2-1, Sunday in United Soccer Leagues First Division play at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN.
Lawrence Odum gave the Thunder the second half lead in the 63rd minute with help from Ricardo Sanchez.
Puerto Rico improves to 3-3-3 with 12 points and is in fifth place in the USL1 standings. They host the Cleveland City Stars Thursday in Bayamon.
Minnesota remains winless at 0-5-3 and three points and in the cellar of the standings. They travel to the Rochester Rhinos Saturday.
