Soamy Bautista had a pair of goals, Juan De Dios Ibarra-Tervino assisted on two others, and Nicho Infante and Daniel Galvan tallied scores as the Laredo Heat beat the host Rio Grande Valley Bravos, 4-2, Sunday in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League play from Valley View Stadium.
Salvador Luna scored both of the Bravos' goals in the loss.
Both teams, who meet again July 9 in Laredo, are in the hunt for playoff spots in the Southern Conference, Mid-South Division.
Laredo is 5-1-6 with 21 points and in third place, one point behind the division co-leading El Paso Patriots (7-4-1) and Austin Aztex U23s (6-2-4) at 22 each.
Rio Grande Valley is 5-4-4 with 19 points and in fourth, two behind Laredo and three back of El Paso and Austin.
Before their next meeting, Laredo will be at Austin Friday and at the DFW Tornados Sunday. The Bravos have the week off.
