Adam Hanson scored two goals in the first 19 minutes for the Long Island Rough Riders in their home United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League game against the Ottawa Fury Saturday, but Liam Maloney's penalty kick in the 28th minute and Joel Thiessen's assist on William Beauge's goal before halftime allowed the Fury to force an eventual 2-2 draw at St. Anthony's High School.
Long Island leads the Eastern Conference, Northeast Division at 9-1-1 with 28 points while the Fury are second at 6-0-2 with 20 points.
Both teams will meet again next Sunday at the Algonquin College Soccer Complex.
Before then, Long Island will host the Ocean City Barons Tuesday and Ottawa will play at the Westchester Flames Sunday and host the Newark Ironbound Express this Saturday.
