Fire Lose Game To Tigres, But Both Head To SuperLiga Semis

Armando Pulido scored both goals for Mexico's Tigres UANL in a 2-1 win over Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire Saturday in the final game of Group A pool play in the 2009 SuperLiga tournament at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.

Cuauhtemoc Blanco had Chicago's lone goal on a 85th minute penalty kick.

Both teams finished pool play 2-1-0 with six points, with Chicago winning the group via tiebreakers and Tigres finishing second to also earn a semifinal berth.

In the other Group A game Saturday at The Home Depot Center, San Luis and Chivas USA played to a 1-1 draw, which eliminated both from further competition.

Alfredo Moreno scored for San Luis (1-1-1, four points) on a 54th minute penalty kick and Bojan Stefanovic assisted Atiba Harris on an 88th minute goal to knot the game and end Chivas' run at 0-2-1 with a point.

Sunday, Group B play concludes as the New England Revolution host Atlas at Gillette Stadium and the Kansas City Wizards welcome Santos Laguna to CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
