Stuart Holden's fourth minute goal, assisted by Kei Kamara and Andrew Hainault was all the Houston Dynamo needed to defeat the suddenly cold Chicago Fire, 1-0, Friday in Major League Soccer play at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.
The Dynamo, 6-2-3 with 21 points and in second place in the Western Conference, has been on an eight-game winning streak since April 11, have won their last three games in a row, and have had six shutouts in their those eight games, including Friday.
During the stretch, including Friday, Houston has outscored their opponents, 12-2.
Chicago, meanwhile, still leads the Eastern Conference at 5-2-6 with 21 points, but they have been shut out in their last two games after beginning the season with an 11-game unbeaten streak.
They last scored a goal May 28 when Cuauhtemoc Blanco scored on a penalty kick at Chivas USA and are 0-2-3 at home since last beating the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, April 5.
Houston will host Western Conference-leading Chivas Wednesday and the Fire will take on DC United at RFK Stadium June 13.
