Destiny-Eagles Lock Up At Charlotte Christian HS

Jorge Herrera had an unassisted goal in the 38th minute for the host Charlotte Eagles, but an unnamed Eagles player knocked the ball into their own net in the 55th as they and the Richmond Kickers Destiny played to a 2-2 tie Saturday in United Soccer Leagues Second Division action from Charlotte Christian High School.

Richmond got a two-goal lead into halftime as John DiRaimondo had a penalty kick goal in the 12th minute, then watched as Mike Burke fed Adrian Bumbut for a goal in the 15th minute.

The Destiny are 4-2-5 with 17 points and are in third place in the standings. They will travel to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds this Friday.

Charlotte is 3-4-3 with 12 points and tied with the Riverhounds for seventh place. The Eagles host the league-leading Harrisburg City Islanders this Friday.
