Luis Martins and Micah Whorton scored unassisted goals in the ninth and 47th minutes, respectively, as the Springfield Demize ended a six-game losing streak by shutting out the visiting Kansas City Brass, 2-0, Thursday in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League play at Cooper Sports Complex.
The win doesn't help Springfield get out of the cellar of the Central Conference, Heartland Division at 1-6-0 with three points, though.
The Brass drop to 2-5-1 with seven points and are in sixth place.
Both teams play again Saturday -- Kansas City on the road at the St. Louis Lions, Springfield hosting the Rochester Rhinos.
