Chivas' Kennedy Out Nine Months After Right Knee Surgery

Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy underwent right knee surgery Wednesday to repair his posterior cruciate ligament and will miss up to nine months of play, the Major League Soccer team said Thursday.

He injured the ligament in a preseason scrimmage March 7 versus the Chicago Fire and tried to play through the pain, but the knee never regained full function.

Kennedy was placed on the team's Disabled List, which means he must miss a minimum six games before returning to play.
