The defending United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League champion Thunder Bay Chill came back from a one-goal halftime deficit in the final eight minutes of play as they edged the Real Colorado Foxes, 2-1, Friday at Chapples Park.
Chris Salvaggione, with help from Brad Stisser, scored for the Central Conference, Heartland Division-leading Foxes in the 46th minute. The Foxes are 6-4-1 with 19 points.
Anderson Fernandes would knot the game at 1-1 on an 82nd-minute penalty kick, then Matheau Hall assisted Anthony Putrus on a final-minute goal to claim the home victory. Thunder Bay is 3-2-2 with 11 points.
Both teams meet again in the second game of their weekend series at Chapples Park Saturday.
