Beattie's Brace Forces Lions To Draw To Demize

Steven Beattie scored a solo goal in the 20th minute then got an assist from Stuart Wark in the 81st minute as the host St. Louis Lions and the Springfield Demize played to a 2-2 draw in United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League action Saturday at the Tony Glavin Soccer Complex.

Siras Abdulgasem had an unassisted 36th minute goal for the Demize and Micah Whorten scored off a Marco Cherisma assist in the 72nd.

The Lions are 5-2-4 with 19 points and tied for second place in the Central Conference, Heartland Division standings with the Des Moines Menace (5-0-4) and are a point behind the division-leading Real Colorado Foxes (6-4-2, 20 points).

Springfield is 2-7-1 with three points and in last place.

The Lions host the defending PDL champion Thunder Bay Chill next Sunday while the Demize are at the Rochester Thunder Friday and at the Menace next Saturday.
