Betsy McAdams, chief operating officer of the United Soccer Leagues First Division's Charleston battery since May 2008, passed away Thursday after battling brain cancer.
A original member of the team's staff in 1993, she served in many capacities, including director of operations and director of finance and business administration.
Prior to joining the Battery, McAdams was a purchasing agent at Blackbaud until 1996, when she became executive assistant to former company CEO and majority team owner Tony Bakker.
The Battery will hold a moment of silence Thursday at Blackbaud Stadium before they host the Puerto Rico Islanders.
Soccer Scene USA offers its condolences to the Battery and the McAdams family.
