Lisa De Vanna scored off a Sonia Bompastor assist in the 22nd minute and Cat Whitehill followed up ten minutes later with an unassisted goal as the host Washington Freedom beat FC Gold Pride, 3-1, Sunday in Women's Professional Soccer action at the Maryland Soccerplex.
The Pride helped the Freedom out in the 16th minute when Kristen Graczyk scored a goal in her own team's net.
Their only true goal came when Christine Sinclair scored on a Tiffeny Milbrett assist.
Washington is 3-2-3 with 12 points and in second place in the league while FC Gold Pride fell to 3-5-1 with 10 points and are in fourth place.
Both teams have matches next Sunday -- Washington versus the league-leading Los Angeles Sol at the The Home Depot Center; the Pride hosting the Chicago Red Stars at Buck Shaw Stadium.
