The Montreal Impact of the United Soccer Leagues First Division made several announcements concering the 2009 season at their annual preseason banquet Wednesday.
The team signed two more players -- Togo native and defender Zanzan and Gambia native and forward Pa Amadou Gai -- for the next two seasons.
Zanzan scored two goals in 35 games for his country's team. He spent seven seasons in Belgium's First Division, most notably with Dakham, Lokeren and FC Brussels. Zanzan played last season in Romania with CS Otopeni.
Gai, a member of his country's U-17, U-20 and U-23 national teams, has played since 1997 for Bakau United in Gambia's First Division, where he scored nine goals in 11 games last season.
Montreal also transferred defender Alex Surprenant and midfielder Pierre-Rudolph Mayard to their developmental team in the Canadian Soccer League, the Trois-Rivieres Attak.
Finally, the Impact released forward Severino Jefferson after scoring three goals in 25 games in his only season with the team.
Montreal will play at the Charleston Battery this Friday before opening the 2009 USL1 season at home May 9 against the Rochester Rhinos.
