Parke Signs With Defending Champ Whitecaps

The defending United Soccer Leagues First Division champion Vancouver Whitecaps signed defender Jeff Parke to a contract Tuesday.

Parke, who trained with Seattle Sounders FC in March after being a third round selection in the Major League Soccer Expansion Draft, played five seasons with the New York Red Bulls, who selected him with the overall final pick in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft back in their MetroStars days.

In 138 career regular season and playoff games in MLS, he started 132 games and scored one goal and assisted on two goals.
