The National Indoor Soccer League Tuesday named Bato Radoncic of the Rockford Rampage, Genoni Martinez of La Raza de Monterrey and Peter Pappas of the Philadelphia Kixx the January Players of the Month.
Radoncic won offensive honors after scoring 18 points in five games that month, including two hat tricks. He led the Rampage to a 3-2 record with a three-point goal, seven two-point goals and an assist.
He is second on the team and tenth in the league in scoring with 29 points in 11 games and is one of five players this season to score a short-handed goal.
Martinez was named the Defensive Player of the Month after having a two-point goal and three assists in four games with Monterrey splitting the contests.
He had a league-leading 11 blocks in the month and leads overall in the NISL in the category with 29. Martinez also leads the league in assists (15) and shots taken (64) and leads the team in scoring with 22 points on three goals and 15 assists.
Pappas was named the Goalkeeper of the Month after a 3-1 month that included a 13-6 win at the Baltimore Blast January 31, where he stopped eight of 11 shots en route to a 8.71 goals-against average, and held Monterrey, the NISL's highest-scoring team, to eight points in a 16-8 win January 25.
The Kixx are 6-5 on the season and Pappas is third in the league in GAA with a 10.54 average.
